The Counselling Shed
If you are feeling depressed, low, tired or heavy, then moving is probably the last thing that you’ll think of doing. You are more likely to want to retreat to your bed, or to your sofa.
But if you can muster even just a little energy, then movement can really help to support you through the difficult feelings that you are experiencing.
Typically, when we think about moving the body we might think about going for a walk or a run, or exercise classes and/or sports i.e. movements that are full of energy and enthusiasm.
But that is not what I am talking about here. What I am suggesting is putting that heavy, lumbering, weighty, can’t-be-bothered-to-move, don’t-want-to-do-anything feeling into movement.
Perhaps this sounds odd – but if you are feeling heavy, tied, low or depressed, then why not give it a go.
Here is a music track to support you.
Many of my clients find that when at home, between counselling sessions, a little movement really helps them to work through some of the heavy, stuck energy that they are holding onto.
Often, there is a real and justifiable reason why this energy built up in the first place – and counselling can really help you to unravel and to understand this. But a little movement too, can really help you to shift this energy, so that moving through depression becomes possible.
Try it for yourself and if you have any feedback then I’d love to hear about how you got on.
And if you’re in a rut now, then don’t struggle on alone, contact me now to see how I can help you.
