The Counselling Shed
In addition to being trained as a counsellor, I am also trained in the therapeutic movement practice of 5Rhythms. This means that I have an awareness of how our worries, struggles, anxieties and tensions, are not just held as thoughts in our minds, but that they are also held in our bodies – the issues in our tissues!
Anyone who is familiar with the book ‘The Body Keeps the Score’ by Bessel Van Der Kolk will be familiar with this approach.
Moving our bodies in a supportive, permissive and non-judgemental atmosphere supports us to get in touch with the life force that courses through our veins.
5Rhythms offers us a way of bypassing our limiting thoughts about who we think we are and/or who we think we ‘should’ be and it invites us to get in touch with a whole range of other qualities that we might not have known were there: our power, our sensitivity, our creativity, our tenderness, our playfulness, our desire to connect with others, our sexuality, our spirituality… 5Rhythms movement enables us to get in touch with the immediacy of who we are at a very deep level.
I run classes and workshops in this practice and those interested can find further details at:

I am happy to work 1:1 with clients focusing purely on an embodiment-therapy and therapeutic movement approach but unless this is specifically requested and discussed beforehand then counselling sessions will be talk-based.
