Apple Crumble and Sex Addiction

Sex Addiction Counselling Near me

Are you curious about the link between Sex Addiction and Apple Crumble? If so, read on…

At some point in my work with clients I might ask them whether they like Apple Crumble.

Sometimes they say ‘yes’, sometimes they say ‘no’, and sometimes they say that they are not really bothered either way.

I love Apple Crumble. If it’s on the menu when I eat out, I will order it. I often make it at home – and always, for me, it has to be served with custard. Yum Yum!

The point is, that Apple Crumble is part of the ‘liking circuit’ of my brain. I eat it. I enjoy it. I don’t feel deep regret or shame after having eaten it and I don’t crave after it on a daily basis.

Neurologically speaking, the ‘liking circuit’ of a person’s brain is very different from the part of the brain which generates ‘cravings’.

A few years ago some pivotal neurological research was carried out, which showed that ‘craving’ has very little to do with ‘liking’ or with pleasure.

You would think, wouldn’t you, that the end result of so much craving… endless longing for this or that particular thing, would bring pleasure: but research suggests otherwise.

If there is any pleasure it’s more a result of the cessation of craving rather than authentic enjoyment of the thing itself.

When supporting my clients to recover from sex addiction, porn addiction, problematic porn use and compulsive sexual behaviour, I help them to understand both neurologically and biologically, what is going on in their brain.

As well as looking at other contributing factors, recovery involves them actually rewiring the neurology of their own brains. And the good news is that it is possible to do this.

If you’ve realised that you are struggling with out of control sexual behaviour, and are wanting to take a first step towards your growth and recovery, then get in touch.

There really is no need to go on struggling alone. Recovery and growth is possible. Let me show you how.

You can call, text or email me and I will get back to you just as soon as I can.
